Seeking Another Country

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country (Hebrews 11:13-16).
The great temptation for Israel in the Old Testament and for the Church today, is to forget that we are pilgrims not natives in this world. The temptation is to let the Lord's delay make us settle into the world and become passive as we wait, to forget that we are aliens, sojourners, strangers on the earth, seeking another homeland, desiring and yearning for a better country.
